Florida Golf Season Is Around the Corner
While golfers in many parts of the country are preparing for cooler temperatures and shorter days, fall in Florida signals the beginning of one of the best stretches of the golf calendar.
For the Citrus Golf Trail, the months ahead bring cooler mornings, a full calendar of golf, and more players returning to courses throughout Highlands County.
A Change in the Season
Florida golf does not have the same traditional offseason found in colder parts of the country, but the arrival of fall still changes the experience on the course.
As temperatures begin to moderate, morning and afternoon rounds become increasingly appealing. The shift also comes at a time when many seasonal residents and visiting golfers begin making their way back to Central Florida.
By late fall and winter, golf becomes an even bigger part of the rhythm of the area.
Plenty of Golf to Choose From
One advantage of playing the Citrus Golf Trail is the number of courses available within the same region.
Golfers can choose between Deer Run and Turtle Run at Sun ’N Lake Golf Club, play the North and South courses at Highlands Ridge Golf Club, or add rounds at Pinecrest Golf Club, River Greens Golf Course, and Country Club of Sebring.
For returning golfers, that makes it easy to revisit a favorite while still adding something different to the schedule. For first-time visitors, it provides an introduction to several distinct courses within one trip.
More Than Everyday Rounds
The upcoming season also brings tournament golf to the Trail.
The Citrus Golf Trail Open returns November 18–20, followed by the 72nd Citrus Golf Trail Ladies Invitational December 28–31. Along with everyday play, events like these bring competitive golf and visiting players to Highlands County throughout the season.
It all adds to a busy time of year for the local golf community.

There is plenty of golf still ahead in 2026. Whether that means returning to a familiar course, trying another property on the Trail, joining an upcoming event, or planning a few days of golf in Highlands County, fall is a good time to start looking at the calendar.
